"Waiting" by Helen Sanderson

Description

Waiting is a monoprint from the Dance Series. These monoprints that were created as a response to the watching the rehearsals of the Australian Folkloric Dance Company. The high energy of the dancers with the accompanying exciting music was the main focus of this body of work. This work was begun with a marble plate being inked up and the surface being worked into directly while the dancers rehearsed in front of the artist. The paper print was then taken, and later the mixed media was added to this unique image.

Helen Sanderson-the Dance Series was an exhibition with a selection of twenty works from the 250 monoprints done in Dance Series that toured regional Queensland under the auspices of the Queensland Arts Council and the Queensland Performing Arts Trust.
