  • Helen's work is included in the Christmas 2003 Show at Maria Perides Gallery in Newstead.

  • Helen is invited to exhibit in the15 artists exhibition at the Redcliffe City Art Gallery in September 2003.

  • Works will be showing at Brisbane Grammar School Art Show, September 2003.

  • After teaching the Layering the Landscape workshop at Noosa earlier this year, Helen has been invited to present the opening speech at Books 2003 - works of imagination - Watermarks, at the Noosa Regional Art Gallery on 5th September 2003.

  • Following a trip to Antarctica earlier in 2003, Helen is exhibiting a book on Antarctica at Books 2003 - works of imagination - Watermarks, at the Noosa Regional Art Gallery on 5th September 2003.

  • Work is being shown in the Warwick Art Prize at the Warwick Art Gallery in September 2003.

  •  Past and Present  solo exhibition opens on April 5th 2003 at Maria Perides Gallery, 125 Commercial Road, Newstead 4006, Ph 3852 4007. These works may be viewed in Gallery - Room 9.

  •  Helen now exhibits in Brisbane at Maria Perides Gallery, 125 Commercial Road, Newstead.

  • Layering the Landscape workshop held at Noosa Regional Art Gallery. Helen took participants in this workshop exploring the landscape in Noosa, then worked through photography, drawings, rubbings, mapping, commercial advertising on Noosa to each produce an artist's book.

  • The Dance Series, exhibits from  Wednesday March 19 to Sunday May 4 2003 at Caloundra Regional Art Gallery.
  • kraft + paper  August 23 - September 11 2002  at Gallery 482, Fortitude Valley. Kraft + paper opened at Gallery 482, 482 Brunswick Street, Fortitude Valley, Brisbane on Friday 23rd August 2002. Gallery director Joe Airo-Farulla invited Helen to curate this paper exhibition. The artists invited to participate were: Christine Ballinger, Jac Bennink, Penny Carey-Wells, Inga Hunter, Catherine K, Wendy McGrath, Helen Mueller, Adele Outteridge, Diane Perndt and Helen Sanderson. All the artists use paper in their arts practice.

The works include hand made papers, art papers and commercial papers, printed and collaged papers, dyed and painted papers, spun and woven air mail newspapers and waxed transparent papers. These artists come from the eastern seaboard of Australia, from Hobart to Noosa. They are experienced exhibiting artists, and welcomed the opportunity to exhibit together in a commercial gallery in Brisbane. The exhibition has received much praise and should afford the artists new opportunities for the future.


  • November 2001 - Come to the Opening of Gallery Room 8 - Artists Books by Helen Sanderson!   Artists Books  is a concept that Helen Sanderson has been experimenting with for a number of years.  Gallery Room 8 showcases some of Helen's work in this area.

  • Oct 11 - 14  2001  The Lost and Found artists produced an Artists Book for display in Brisbane at the very successful 4th Artists’ books + Multiples Fair held at the School of Arts from October 11 to 14.   • Sept  2001  Lost and Found is an international exchange Art Exhibition, and features artists from Australia and Hong Kong. The curator is Sharon Smith of Hong Kong, and Sharon has asked Helen Sanderson to be curator for the Australian part of the exhibition. 

The Lost and Found artists have produced an Artists Book for display in Brisbane at the 4th Artists’ books + Multiples Fair from October 11 to 14. For more details and photos of the Artists Fair, please visit the Lost and Found Web site.


  • June  2001  The Paper as Object Exhibition opened at the Noosa Regional Art Gallery on June 22 2001, before exhibiting in Brisbane until September 2001. It is currently touring Australia. Probable places and dates are listed below, but are subject to change.

"Edward Dunlop Paper Project" series

Work from this Project  will be displayed at the Noosa Regional Art Gallery in June 2001.

 


  • October 2000 Helen has been appointed as Artist in Residence with Edwards Dunlop Paper  - part of the New Possibilities for Paper international conference to be held  July 2001 at University of Sunshine Coast.

New Possibilities for Paper is an innovative international project looking at re-presenting paper as a medium for the contemporary world. An artist-in-residency with industry program is being established, along with national and international touring exhibitions, and a conference.  Work will be selected for the Paper as Object exhibition which will open at Noosa Regional Gallery in June 2001.


  • August 2000 Music Series begins regional tour to  Rockhampton, Mitchell, Croydon, Julia Creek,  Ingham, and Texas.

    Artists spend five days drawing and painting at Palgrove Station, a Charolais cattle stud,  west of Stanthorpe, arranged by the Warwick Regional Gallery.  Invitation for a solo exhibition at Warwick Regional Art Gallery for works relating to this theme in 2002.

  • March 1 2000  The Queensland Arts Council and the Queensland Performing Arts Centre announce their intention to tour the exhibition Helen Sanderson-the Music Series in regional Queensland in 2000-2001.

    New Web Site

    The new  Helen Sanderson site was released to the Web for the first time! The site includes a Gallery of "Thumbnail" examples of Helen's work, plus larger images which may be viewed.   Most work is available for purchase.
