Morendo by Helen Sanderson
DescriptionMorendo is part of the Music Series. This work is a collage using a range of papers, scanned imagery and mixed media. These works are mounted with archival quality papers and glue. This work was completed during the initial ravages of the war in East Timor in 1999. Much of the text is newspaper clippings describing the atrocities and terrors going on in Timor at this time. I looked at the classical music I was listening to against the backdrop of this terrible time, experienced by me only in newspaper terms. Morendo, an Italian term, means dying away.
