Description

Aligned

130 x 90 cm

Acrylic on Canvas

This landscape based work looks at duality –  feast and famine…with the shapes coming aerial views of the old farm paddocks, the fruit trees growing in line, and the water holes marked in.

 Black & White Dress I

 130 x 90 cm

Acrylic on Canvas

This quirky contemporary dress image is superimposed over a richly decorative textile derived background.  It is evocative of memory and sense of place.  The loose red square is the window to this world.
Black & White Dress II

130 x 90 cm

Acrylic on Canvas

This empty black and white spotted dress is the second in the series.  The black ribbon network in the background, and the aged colour on the surface evokes notions of times past.

Body Adorned

130 x 90 cm

Acrylic on Canvas

This complementary coloured and decorative work places the female figure against a rich background of textile related roses and is embellished with a tattoo like gold patterning over the bodies surface.  It is the last piece done for this exhibition, with many other works alluding to the female form, but this is the first to actually use one.

Encompass

130 x 90 cm

Acrylic on Canvas

There are many elements that tie us to the land and this work looks at a few that encompass that.

Gilded Memory

130 x 90 cm

Acrylic on Canvas

Layers of roses, ruched fabrics and gilded dreams overlaid with linear outlines of female figures reminiscent of those in dreams and memories.

Gilded Rose

130 x 90 cm

Acrylic on Canvas

Patterns of roses reminiscent of old domestic settings overlaid with the linear outline of a single rose, the metaphor of our hopes and dreams words we cannot say.

Hourglass

130 x 90 cm

Acrylic on Canvas

This surface gives rich hints of the decorative patterning submerged just below the surface, echoing the domestic patterns of the past.  This work incorporates various layers of feminine imagery and patterning.

Waterhole

102 x 76 cm

Acrylic on canvas

This work relates to a layered agricultural landscape, with the water hole and its importance given significance.
Compass Rose

130 x 90 cm

Acrylic on Canvas

The patterned background of this work, both linear and decorative, reverberate with the echoes of a time just past with a distinct reference to old domestic textiles and linoleum, with the overlay of red roses, evoking good memories.

Rubescence

130 x 90 cm

Acrylic on Canvas

A single red rose…a universal symbol of love, a gift we often give at times of great joy and sorrow, imbued with a multitude of emotions often left unsaid.

True Bearings

102 x 76 cm

Acrylic on canvas

This work uses the same triangular form used in much of this exhibition, superimposed over the decorative patterned background.

Maiden Voyage

130 x 90 cm

Acrylic on Canvas

Evocative body filled dress image against a rich background of patterned roses.

Recollection
