Dance Unity by Helen Sanderson
DescriptionDance Unity is one of the dance series works that was done en situ in the rehearsal studios of the Australian Folkloric Dance Company. The image is a monoprint, where the marble plate was inked up, and I then drew the image into the ink directly as the dancers rehearsed in front of me. A number of the dances involve the interlinking of the dancers arms, and dancing together in a line across the stage, rather like the now famous Riverdance dance. It is powerful imagery, and the work explores the unity, repetition and movement of the dancers bodies. DimensionsWidth: 57cm Height: 38cm Framed: Yes ExhibitedThis work was included in the Spirit of the Dance exhibition. Other InformationHelen Sanderson-the Dance Series was an exhibition with a selection of twenty works from the 250 monoprints done in Dance Series that toured regional Queensland under the auspices of the Queensland Arts Council and the Queensland Performing Arts Trust.
